The Origin of the Icon Portrait of Jesus Christ the
Returning King
On September 27, 2005, Anne, the -lay apostle, received by interior
locution a message from St. Faustina. She told Anne: "Our missions are destined
to be joined; your mission is an extension of my mission in that it is all part
of the Divine Mercy."
This connection stirred Anne's desire to visit the Mother House of St.
Faustina in Poland. And as Providence would have it, Sister Briege McKenna and
Fr. Kevin Scallon called to invite her to join them in. a tjip to Poland to
visit the birthplace of Pope John Paul II and the Convent of the Sisters of
Our Lady of Mercy where St. Faustina had lived.
At the Sisters Convent, they met Mother Superior Mary Lukasza and explained
to her the mission of Anne and her experience with the Lord and most recently
with St. Faustina herself. When Anne mentioned that her mission was to spread
the message of Jesus Christ the Returning King, Mother Lukasza told her
about something very strange that had happened to her the day before.
Sis. Briege recounts: "She explained that on her feast day (St.. Luke) that
an artist friend of hers had presented her with a painting, which he had told
Mother Lukasza would be a painting of her patron saint. However when he gave her
the painting, he explained that it was a painting of Christ the King.
Mother Lukasza went off to fetch the painting and when we saw it, we were amazed
and recognized that this painting was to be the authentic image for the
apostolate representing Jesus Christ the Returning King. It was obvious
that Mother Lukasza had the exact same sense, because she immediately presented
the painting to Anne telling her that she was certain that it was really meant
for her. We all felt that we were present at a moment of great significance
which we will look back on with gratitude."
"In the days before coming to Poland, Anne shared with me that she had
received messages from St. Faustina who told her that the revelation of
Divine Mercy and of Christ the Returning King were intimately
connected which is why she was so amazed to receive the painting; almost, you
might say, from the hands of St. Faustina herself. St. Faustina had told her
that the Divine Mercy devotion was more for these times in which we live
than for any other time in the past.
On October 28,2005, St. Faustina said to Anne:
"The image of Jesus Christ the Returning King should be spread throughout
the world. There are many graces attached to this image. Like the image of Jesus
Christ, the Divine Mercy, this image of Christ will be widely recognized as a
source of goodness and healing. All who venerate this image will be blessed. I
am grateful that God allows me the privilege of assisting in this mission. Each-
apostle should feel the same way and each apostle should thank God for being
chosen to serve. Such joy flows from heaven. Bask in the joy, dear apostles,
because your King is returning.
